the blue
lake
The Little Blue Lake can be found between Derby and Gladstone, it’s a naturally occuring wonder resulting from the mining days long forgotten. It was originally a mine hole and the lake reflects a vivid torquoise from the minerals. It is not recommended for swimming, but is quite magical to visit and spend time. Mount
Paris Dam
Thirteen kilometres from Branxholm the Mt. Paris Dam, (for riders its not far from the Atlas Trail head) the dam is now in ruins and a fascinating look into the past. A short 100 metre walk from the road you will be in awe of the concrete ruins still standing, the tranquil waterways left behind, a past shrouded in wilderness, it’s a sight not to be missed.

Derby River
Derby
In October every year, the North East Rivers Festival culminates in the Derby River Derby. Competitors tackle the river in weird, wacky and creative craft. There’s markets, merriment and fun in this Annual Festival. Don’t miss the ‘King of the River’ race for the serious contenders.
